Top 10 Fall Activities in Ventura

Ventura County is an agricultural bonanza and outdoor playground for all ages. We’re spoiled with a cornucopia of local farms, mountains, beaches, venues, and events. Sometimes it’s easy to forget all the options at our fingertips and under our feet, so here are a few HPC Staycation tips to get you back out there! To compliment your active Fall lifestyle, we also have tips for visiting a cannabis store before or after your activities.

  1. Nothing says Fall like a family visit to a Pumpkin Patch. It’s much more satisfying to pick your own pumpkin off the vine and then carve it for Halloween. Don’t forget to roast those fresh pumpkin seeds you pull out of the pumpkin goop.
  2. The 22 Annual Fall Harvest Festival offers a different outdoor experience each weekend, so plan on multiple trips.
  3. Grab a jacket and visit the Ventura Harbor Village or go whale watching in the Channel. It’s always a different experience and it can get chilly with Fall weather.
  4. Check out the Ventura Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show which features family-fun entertainment, food, along with high quality, judged art and crafts.
  5. Take a tour of a local brewery, winery or distillery. Ask about any special Fall flavors created for the season. Grab your growler, howl at the October Harvest Moon and get out there!
  6. If alcohol is not your thing, take a food tour with Ventura Food Tours where you can enjoy Ventura “one bite at a time.”
  7. Get peddling on the Ojai Bike Path. The summer crowds are gone so you won’t feel like you’re part of the packed peloton in the Tour de France. Spandex is absolutely optional but always be safe and wear a helmet say your friends at HPC.
  8. Attend the Ventura County Fall Home, Garden & RV Show at the county fairgrounds. See the newest and latest in Fifth Wheels, Motorhomes, Travel Trailers, and Toy Haulers, sponsored by Kirby Barber RV of Ventura. Then again, there’s so much to do in Ventura so who needs an RV to leave it?
  9. Picnic at Surfers Point Beach. There are several picnic tables and benches, and thankfully, working restrooms. The water is getting chilly, so there’s no pressure to go swimming. OK, if you really want to go swimming, pick another beach or head to Emma Wood State Beach Park.
  10. Visit the Ventura Botanical Gardens and discover how the area has regrown and changed since the Thomas Fire. With the summer heat gone you can enjoy a leisurely stroll, an arduous hike, yoga, or reading in the garden. Peace, nature’s own aromatherapy, and chirping birds await you.

So, you’ve been out and about all day working your way through our Top Ten Tips. You may be sore, tired, or you just want to relax after a fun, busy day of hiking, biking, playing, sightseeing, or eating! We warmly suggest you come visit the Hueneme Patient Collective to recover in time for your next outing.
